How to say “mom” in Sign Language

To perform the general version of the sign “mom” in American Sign Language (ASL) use your dominant hand. While keeping your fingers extended and spread out, simply touch your chin with the thumb of your hand twice.

For signs like “mom” that use only one hand, you typically use the hand you also write with. So in case you are left-handed, you would normally use your left hand for signing “mom”. This hand is also called your dominant hand.
